ENIVO

Bio/CV: Marcos Ramos, better known as Enivo, is a street artist and muralist who has also embraced an active studio practice. Born in 1986, he began his artistic career at the age of 12 through graffiti in Grajaú, a neighborhood in the outskirts of São Paulo.

He has painted murals throughout Brazil, as well as in the United States, Mexico, Germany, Holland, France, Austria, Spain, Chile and Argentina. He participated in the Stroke Art Fair Festivals in Munich; Urban Festival “City Leaks” in Köln, Germany; “CALLE LIBRE” at the University of Fine Arts in Vienna; and Wynwood Art District-Miami and collaborated on campaigns for major brands such as NIKE, Adidas, Samsung, Bradesco, Natura and Ellus.

He worked for ten years teaching art in schools and NGO projects, focusing on sharing knowledge, training and raising awareness of hundreds of young people from underprivileged neighborhoods. After becoming aware of the lack of cultural spaces to host and sell urban art in Brazil, he founded, together with a group of other artists, the A7MA Gallery, in Vila Madalena, where he has curated over 70 exhibitions.

Enivo's works have been exhibited in numerous individual and group exhibitions in commercial galleries, as well as in the Pinacoteca, the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture - MuBE and the Sacred Art Museum in São Paulo.

Artist Statement: In the art studio, I combine my street and academic knowledge, mixing graffiti materials with oil paint. On canvas I portray much of what I see, dream and idealize. On a non-stop production routine, since 2020, I have created around 450 works. My desire is to make things eternal. Art is built on sensitivity. My work represents the incessant search for the core feeling. The duality between looking out and looking in.

When I open my eyes, I look around, I catalog every moment, I am an interpreter of our time, I perpetuate urban scenes of the current reality, street culture, youth, black protagonism, the sad reality of people who are homeless and the feeling of hope through solidarity and affection people get from each other.

When I close my eyes I see infinite possibilities, in the imaginary field I visualize an Afro-futurist atmosphere, with bright colors and neon magic staffs. I compose scenarios and adorned figures proposing new trends and behavior for the tribes of the future, fulfilling my role as the “Rainbow Warrior”, I wish to immortalize the present through painting, portraying lovers, friends and anonymous people. I am coloring time and writing letters to the civilizations still to come.
